As a major research institution and one of the largest universities in the nation, Ohio State has many excellent opportunities for its undergraduate researchers. On this page, we have listed many of the excellent opportunities for undergraduate students to work with Ohio State faculty and students from OSU and elsewhere.

The funding sources below are are arranged in order of application due date, so that you can more easily find upcoming deadlines. These funds are generally recurring: current deadlines are listed in red, while past deadlines that are listed in black. Past deadlines will be updated as new information becomes available; they remain on the website so that students can be aware of sources that may become available again.

Summer Undergraduate Research Program in Astrophysics
This Program offers full-time, paid summer research positions in astrophysics with a faculty member of the Department of Astronomy and/or Physics.
Deadline: January 29, 2010

Glenn-Stokes Research Internships
For students in NSF-defined underrepresented minority groups, majoring in one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.
This program will not be offered for summer 2010. See the Glenn-Stokes website for past-year information.

Beckman Scholars Program
Year-round funding for research in chemistry, biochemistry, or biomedical science.
Deadline: February 10, 2010

NSF REU: Interdisciplinary Research for Undergraduates
The chemistry department's interdisciplinary research REU introduces students to the culture and mindset of interdisciplinary science, including emerging technologies such as nano- and bio-technology and materials chemistry.
Status: currently awaiting program funding decisions; check back for application duedate

Stone Laboratory Scholarships and REU (Biological Sciences)
Fund summer classes and student research at the Stone Laboratory on Gibraltar Island in biological sciences related to limnology, herpetology, fisheries as well as other related disciplines.
Deadline: February 24, 2010

NSF REU: Molecular Genetics & Biochemistry
Deadline: March 1, 2010

The Kirwan Institute for the Study of Race & Ethnicity Summer Internship Program
Summer interns may work on research on a wide variety of topics including, but not limited to: marginalized racial and ethnic groups, racial and economic segregation, racial justice and regional equity, democratic participation and governance.
Deadline: March 5, 2010

Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowships in the Pharmaceutical Sciences
Fellowships are available for undergraduate students who would like to do research work in any of the pharmaceutical sciences.
Deadline: March 5, 2010

Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Summer Undergraduate Research Experience
A flexible, interdisciplinary, 10-week research and professional development opportunity for qualified juniors interested in plant sciences.  For more information, click on the title above and and look under the Undergrad Research tab.

Summer Research Internships in Plant Pathology
Designed to provide undergraduate students with an opportunity to conduct cutting-edge research in the fields of plant science, plant pathology, and molecular biology.

Dr. Rudy Melfi Research Fellowship in Dentistry
Student must be available full-time during the summer. Five successful candidates (“Fellows”) will be assigned to a research mentor for their summer fellowship.

Mathematical Biociences Institute Summer Program for Undergraduates
Explore the interface of mathematics, statistics, and biological sciences.

URO Summer Research Fellowships
Get paid to conduct 10 weeks of full-time, independent research in any discipline with an OSU faculty member.

The Mayers Summer Research Scholarships in the Biological Sciences
Summer Research Scholarships give students majoring in the biological sciences the opportunity to enhance significantly the quality of their senior thesis Research Projects.
