Awards & Fellowships

Congratulations to the inaugural recipients of the SOLAR Foundation Research Grants! This endowment fund is used in support of undergraduate student research in the field of epidemiology, virology, HIV and AIDS education, other infections of the blood, and related subjects, and is administered by the Undergraduate Research Office.

Noteworthy Mentions

Kudos to all those who participate in research at the Ohio State University! These are some noteworthy mentions of Ohio State undergraduate researchers and mentors. Check out older noteworthy mentions in the archives.

	Kristin Silver, senior in psychology, was an invited speaker to a panel entitled "Trafficking and Civil Society: Denial, Distress, and Danger" on January 12, 2010. She will also be presenting her research at the Annual Meeting of the Midwestern Psychological Association in April.
Microbiology major and Beckman Scholar Emily Wong presented a poster, "Methanobrevivacter smithii RNase P - a model for archaeal mesophilic type A RNase P and a possible anti-obesity target," at the 2009 Rustbelt RNA Meeting in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.
			Physics major Jake Connors traveled to the Undergraduate Research Conference of the Sigma Xi Annual Meeting in Houston, Texas, November 12-15, and received a Superior award for his presentation.
Geological Sciences major Justin M. Von Bargen won the prize for best student poster in the Sigma Gamma Epsilon Earth Sciences Honorary Society's poster session at the recently completed annual meeting of the Geological Society of America in Portland, Oregon.
			Hebrew and history of art major Dena Rapoport won first prize in the Spring '09 Melton Center for Jewish Studies' Roth Essay Contest. Her paper on the work of a major Israeli literary figure was titled "Chaim Nahman Bialik: Poetry and Tension."
